The problem being that one would not generally want "General file" defaults on Media files. It's far easier to right click on your header row and tweak to get what you want and get rid of what you don't. The point I was trying to make is Windows automatically "optimizes" the folder based on the type of files in it.
Of course, you can add whichever columns you want but I was trying to explain to mystic12 that nobody "customized" the folder. Community Forum Software by IP. Sign In Create Account. Posted 24 April - AM Hey guys, I downloaded some file off the net on two days [Friday and yesterday] all into one folder. Posted 24 April - AM Why are you not using the "date modified" column for sort order that shows up in File Explorer by default.
Posted 24 April - AM When you add new columns to the Explorer window, they will be added to the right as shown by the green arrow in the screenshot below.
Edited by Agouti, 24 April - AM. Posted 24 April - AM mystic Posted 24 April - AM Please see attached screenshot, I am not seeing a 'date modified ' option in explorer. Posted 24 April - AM Well, you were not explicit about being in music folders, which have different display defaults.
Posted 24 April - AM let me go in slomo here, bear with me please, this is what I am seeing when I right click on the 'title' in the header, please advise me from there? Posted 24 April - AM mystic12, it's not your doing that the folder is showing these columns.
Click it. This will open the folder that the file was downloaded and saved to. File download managers have a feature similar to browsers. The settings are normally where you can set the folder that all files should be downloaded to. Right-click the downloaded file or the in-progress download in the torrent client. The context menu will have an option called open containing folder, or something similar.
Clicking it will open the folder that the downloaded file is in. This will push the found files that were created recently to the top of the results.
It is not true. Dropbox changes the "Created" date to when the file is fetched from the cloud, also when using locally installed Dropbox-application. So if you reinstall a computer, reinstall dropbox and synch. Then all your files will suddenly have "Created" date from when you performed the reainstallation of dropbox. All my original "Created" dates are gone with the wind. I have the same problem. My original creation dates or "modified" date in dropbox all changed to the upload date even when using the desktop app.
Fortunately I discovered the problem before uploading and locally deleting all of my precious files, but I have forever lost the dates on many files and for now I'm too scared to delete my remaining originals off my hard drive for fear of losing the metadata.
Kind of defeats the purpose of having dropbox. I have the same issue. Even with syncing, all my videos have lost their original creation date. I have stored thousands of photos and videos of my children on my Dropbox.
And it saddens me that I'll never know when a particular video was filmed. This is a dealbreaker for me, and I would tell everyone to not use Dropbox for storing memories.
