Whatever happened to Goodwin's Law? This is why we aren't allowed to have nice things anymore. Monsters that feed on and kill people, since people, but, somehow, Nazis still top the charts. Feelz trump reason, every. Bought it from the official WOD digital storefront before it shut down. This book is messy in the best and worse ways, it shakes up the clans we've known due to the even of the masquerade "Slipping" in the early 00s and other events.
I made a video review of V5. It covers the lore, mechanics and RP elements of the book. Steer clear of this version of the World of Darkness, it's watered down simplified and absolutely lacking in content. Even newer content they have changed the known history of the WoD, not to mention getting rid of clans by clumping them into one clan, and getting rid of unique disciplines.
Stick with Vampire 20th if you truly want to see what the world of darkness has to offer not this diluted and fairly poorly written edition. It is incorrect to say that any Clans have been gotten rid of, or that they have been clumped together. They have merely introduced the core seven Clans from the original game in the core rules. The core game runs smoother than it did before. I think their previous credits speak for themselves in terms See more of quality.
Officially they have clumped all of the Assamites' Caste into the monolithic Baqu Haqium and cut Dur-An-Ki's several unique paths into general blood sorcery. Also they Samedi have split themselves with some joining the ministry aka Set's new label.
All in all meaning yes there is clans that are both gotten rid of and clumped together. All sorcerous magic are now organized into blood sorcery as a means of streamlining the rules - it has nothing to do with Paths. Indeed, Cappadocians are more associated with the Dark Ages historical setting. The Hecata are an attempt to provide a common Clan for all these variations, but all will be expanded on in more detail than they have ever been done before in the upcoming Cults of the Blood Gods supplement.
Moreover, all of these Clans are detailed in supplements not the core book here. V20 attempted to collate a 20 year history of supplements all into a single book.
V5 focuses on a single point and expands out with supplements. It is patently false to claim that V5 is shortchanging the rich complexity of previous versions of the game.
Maximilian S. Vampire 5th Edition didn't hold my expectations. My group is playing Vampire since There are a lot of editions, and this Edition is a mediocre one. I really liked some new fresh ideas and the art work as a DM, but I don't understand why [ Rory H.
The best version of Vampire: The Masquerade that there has ever been. State of the art mechanics supporting a fully realised vision of a world from the perspective of children of the night. Mean, lean and gorgeous in equal measure, and brave enough to [ Barbara T. The book isn't laid out great, and there is a lot of flavour text which starts to get annoying when you're flipping through it trying to find a rule in a hurry, but despite it's flaws I genuinely love this game.
I've had so many hou [ Mike N. This is what the original Vampire: The Masquerade should have been all those years ago. This is a beautifully presented, clearly organised, professionally edited, detailed and helpful piece of work. The artwork is also high quality and evocative. Somet [ Edward C. Is there any place to find what has been updated? After a brief look at the ePub file it appears that all they did was add that file version without any additional edits.
How long is the sale going to be running? I have a friend who wants a softcover and I'd like to tell him how long he has to buy it. Can someone cue me in how this is different from Laws of Night Revised? If I just want to run a "standard" game, without the fancy-schmancy bloodlines and whatnot, do I need this, or am I better of with LoN:R, seeing as how its less then half the price?
Sorry, I missed the edit. Is the softcover or the hardcover binding the better one? When I bought the watermarked PDF, the hard copies were not available to purchase. The content is great. However, my book fell apart within a week. Not properly glued. Everyone else I game with got good put together books so I'm not complaining that the books were poorly made.
I just happened to get the crappy one. Would be nice to receive a new one. After contacting drivethrurpg about the issue, they were able to replace the faulty book. Their customer service is fast to respond and excellent in communication. I absolutely can't wait for the W:tA version of this system. If it's even half as good as the V:tM book, I'll be quite pleased.
I look forward to the day we can switch over to the BNS rules. I just wish they made this book smaller, like the size of the Minds Eye Theater books, that felt more proper for a larp and easier to carry around. While I understand the sentiment of wanting a smaller book, the BNS book has far more information in it than the old "pocket sized" MET books did, so it seems to be an unfortunate necessity.
They're kept nearby on tables or counters in out of character areas so people can reference them when they need to. Just recieved my hardcover and NONE of the images are in color. Everything is printed in Black and White and I am extremely disappointed. Be warned about the hard cover version. Update: After contacting "By Night Studios" and sending them pictures of everything I got a response within a hour.
After the following hour I was told that they would be reprinting and reshipping a full color copy to my house along with forwarding the pics to the manufacturer to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. These guys were awesome! I am actually quite pleased with the system. I expected better considering the Blood and Smoke book I got before was quite impressive. The hardcover I received for this looks so horribly faded the beautiful pictures in this book are ruined by it.
Yves C. A nice book, whith everything you need to play. I'm just desapointed that there is no Update concerning the last books of the 20A Vampire the Masquerade edition, creating characters out of nowhere when there is so much vampires to use instead Tyler P.
This book is massive, but that is no surprise for trying to include the lore and information that a possible new player would need to start playing this game.
However, there is something in here for older players that are used to the years of written [ Dana R. Great new rules and setting. Michael R. Great game, works well with their WtA version as well. Can't wait for their version of Changeling. I definitely recommend if you're a fan of World of Darkness. Charles S. Yes, it brings back all the fun of playing MET back in the 90s. Yes, its cleaned up, less confusing, and a much smoother system then what you remember.
